I am an Elephant.
More to follow.
SCHOLARSHIP: For me, I think every academic pursuit comes down to a study of philosophy... perhaps the humanities. I also actively pursue theater, history (especially medieval), and film. I'm a decent writer and poet, but far from prolific.
THEATER: I've been acting since I was in middle school. Mostly leads, but mostly amateur (I've only been paid once). I got theater scholarships from both high school and junior college upon leaving. David Mamet is a personal god, and my last and easily most impressive feat was producing and directing his Glengarry Glen Ross in a downtown San Francisco black box.
I've played Judd in Oklahoma, both Nathan Detroit and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, Emporer Joseph in Amadeus, Demetrius in Midsummer Night's Dream, and Gaev in The Cherry Orchard.
I wrote and workshopped a performance of a 10-minute play I wrote called 'The Job', which was based on the Book of Job from the Bible. Only with mobsters.
BLANKET NERDERY: I'm a huge STAR WARS and STAR TREK fan. I love anything with VAMPIRES in it (at least, I'm obligated to check it out- damn you Underworld!), and my favorite cursory anime experiences are WICKED CITY, ANIMATRIX, GHOST IN THE SHELL (the sequel kicks ass, too), and PRINCESS MONONOKE. I'm also heavily into ROLE-PLAYING (Read that any way you want to; it'll probably be true).
RPGing! I love all of the WHITE WOLF games except Changeling (which I have yet to read), I was literally raised on D&D (My mom was a dungeon master), but I'm not so into that stuff anymore. I'm a nostalgic fan of the old West End Star Wars game. Good times.
Now, I'm getting really into Ron Edward's GNS theory, and the narrativist category of games in that theory, including Dogs in the Vineyard.
MISCELLANIOUS: I come from the suburbs of San Francisco, where the hills have grass. I consider Joseph Campbell to be a personal mentor.
Screw the Roses, Send me the Thorns. Handle-first, please. ;)
I am a practicing Buddhist.
